Das im osten liegenden Mozambique bedeckt eine gesamt Fläche von ungefähr 800'000 km’ und zählt an die 17 Millionen Einwohner. Eine Million lebt in Maputo, dem ehemaligen Laurenzo Marques der Hauptstadt . Das Land grenzt an die Nachbar länder Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi und Tanzania. Die wunderschöne unberührte 2500 km lange Küste am Indischen Ocean erstreckt sich von Ponta do Ouro im Süden bis Namuiranga im Norden. Das Küsten flachland bedeckt rund 44 % des Landes. Die restlichen 56 % bestehen aus Hochland ( 200- 500 m ), Hoch plateau ( 500- 1000 m ) und Berggebiet ( über 1000 m ). Der höchste Berg von Mozambique ist der Mount Binga ( 2436 m ) und liegt in der Provinz Manica westlich von Mozambique. Landessprache ist Portugiesisch und unzählig andere Dialekte wie Shangaan. Englisch wird meistens nur in Hotels gesprochen. Die mehrheit der Bevölkerung gehört dem Christentum an. Daneben existieren auch größere gemeinschaften von Muslims. Mit ausnahme von ein paar wenigen Hotels in Maputo gibt es im restlichen Land zurzeit nur sehr wenig gute Unterkünfte. Der große Marine und Nationalpark Bazaruto Archipel gehört zu den bekanntesten und schönsten Regionen von Mozambique. Dieses Gebiet ist zugleich Schutzgebiet und Legeplatz für tausende von Schildkröten. Zum Bazaruto Archipl gehören die vier Inseln Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque und Santa Carolina. Auf Bazaruto und Benguerra hat es mehrere kleine Süsswasserseen die von Flusspferden und Krokodilen bewohnt sind. Auf Benguerra der bekanntesten Insel die gerade mal 11 km lang und 5,5 km breit ist gibt es zur Zeit zwei verschiedene akzeptable Unterkünfte. Die Insel besteht aus einer traumhaften Dünenlanschaft, Gras und Buschlandschaft, Akatsienwälder, zwei Süsswasserseen und einem traumhaften Sandstrand. Das nahe gelegene Riff ist das zweit- größte Intakte Korallenriff der Welt für Taucher ein einzigartiges Paradies. Auf der Insel leben auch über 160 verschiedene Vogelarten. In der nähe von Maputo findet man noch den Maputo Elephant Park.
  
 

Mozambique occupies an area of 800 000 km’ and has an estimated population of 17 million people. Approximately 1 million of the inhabitants reside in Maputo formerly known as Laurenzo Marques. Mozambique is on the borders of Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania. The coast line is 2500km long and surrounded by the Indian Ocean. The furthest city in the south of Mozambique is Ponta do Ouro and to the north Namuiranga. The coastline represents 44% of the land. Inland, Mozambique is 200- 500 m above sea level. Plateaxs range from 500-1000m with Mount Binga being the highest point reaching up to 2436m above sea level. The main language spoken is Portuguese and Shangaan. English is rarely spoken. Most of people are either Christian or Muslim. Accomodation for travellers is scarce as a result of past wars and flooding and is only available in Maputo. Bazaruto Archipel Nature Reserve is a well known turtle reserve and falls within the most beautiful and scenic locations in Mozambique. This site is home to thousands of turtles who lay their eggs on her shore. Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque and Santa Carolina are islands which form part of the Bazaruto Archipel Nature Reserve and belong to Mozambique. Hippos and crocodiles are found in the lakes of Bazaruto and Benguerra. Benguerra is the most famous island and is only 11 km long and 5,5 km wide. Not much in the way of accomodation is on offer and only two that would be acceptable. The island's coastline is made up of breathetaking sand dunes and beaches. The flora mainly made up of grass, bush and an acacia forest. Bengurra is a paradise island and is home to the second biggest, untouched, unspoilt coral reef in the world! . On this island there are more than 160 bird species. Near Maputo you can also find the Maputo Elephant Park.

Visum / Visa Requirements:
Alle Nationen benötigen für Mozambique ein Visum welches normalerweise für einen Monat ausgestellt wird.Visa sind bei der Einreise am Flughafen und bei allen größeren Grenzübergängen und bei der mozambikischen Botschaft erhältlich. der Reisepass muss bei der Einreise mindestens noch sechs Monate gültig sein.

All nations require a Visa to enter and it is only valid for a month. This visa can be issued either at the border, major airports or order through the embassy. Passports must be valid for 6 months.


Reise- Tipp / Travel Tips:
Von der individuellen Bereisung von Mocambique im eigenen Mietwagen wird im allgemeinen abgeraten. Wenn man sich trotzdem dafür entscheidet sollte, empfehlen wir das mit einem gut eingerichtetem 4x4 Geländewagen zu machen, da die Strassen zum Teil in sehr schlechtem Zustand sind oder weggespühlt sind. Die gesamte Küste von Ponta do ouro bis Namuiranga ist ist ein einzigartiges Paradies und von Wasser sportler und Ruhe suchenden als Geheimtip gehandelt.

Mozambique is a paradise island and is under developed. Roads wash away after heavy rains and are not very pleasant to travel on when they are in use. We do not recommend renting vehicles as it is risky (4x4'ing for novices is a "no-no"!), tours inland are available. For tour information please refer to our "travel and safaris" page. Mozambique is one of the worlds best kept secrets. An ideal destination for water sports and for those who just want to get away from it all.

Auf den inseln des Bazaruto Archipels ist auch während den heißen Sommermonaten April bis Oktober tagsüber mit einer angenehmen Brise zu rechnen.

We recommend visiting Bazaruto Archipels during their summer season (April-October) during the day pleasant breezes are enjoyed.


Sicherheit / Safety Precautions:
Das ganze Land gehört zum Malaria Gebiet und die Einnahme von Malariaprophilaxe sowie anderen Impfungen müssen unbedingt befolgt werden. Solo fahrten außerhalb der Zivilisation sollten unbedingt vermieden werden. Auch Überland fahrten sollten nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit nicht mehr  unternommen werden.
