Sie grenzt im Osten an Mozambique und Swaziland. In dieser Provinz leben ungefähr 3 Millionen Menschen. Die Hauptstadt Nelspruit befindet sich in der nähe des bekannten Krugerparks. Neben dem touristischen Industriezweig spielt auch der Kohlebergbau eine wichtige Rolle. Von einzigartiger Schönheit sind die Randstufen zwischen Hoch und Lowveld. Zu den bekanntesten sehens--würdigkeiten der Provinz zählen: der Blyde River Canyon ( dritt größter Canyon der Welt ) mit all den Wasserfällen und besonders für alle Selbstfahrer die von Johannesburg zum Krugerpark unterwegs sind, die einzigartige Panoramastrasse und natürlich Pilgrim's Rest.     Mpumalanga is one of the smallest metropolitan areas in South Africa consisting of only 7% . Coal Mining and Tourism are their chief sources of income. The Tourism Industry is the primary source of income. The Blyde River Canyon is the third biggest canyon in the world and is Mpumalanga's biggest drawing card. Waterfalls flowing into the canyon make it an ideal location for white water rafting.
