Länder Infos / Country Information     Süd Afrika / South Africa     North West / North West Province:      Die Nord- West Provinz die im Norden an den Staat Botswana angrenzt, nimmt rund 10 % der Fläche Südafrika's ein und zählt 3, 5 Millionen Einwohner. Das sehr trockene und hügelige Land gehört zum Trockengebiet der Kalahari wobei das meiste Land Buschsavanne und Grasland ist. Im Nord- Osten befindet sich auch die weltberühmte Sun City, ein riesen Komplex von mehreren Hotels und mit diversen Unterhaltung's, Freizeit möglichkeiten. Nicht weit davon entfernt das Pilanesberg Wildschutzgebiet. In diesem 60 km’ großen Gebiet leben über 10'000 Wildtiere in freier Wildbahn, darunter auch die "Big Five": Büffel, Löwe, Leopard, Nashorn und Elephant.     The North West Province borders Botswana and represents 10% of South Africa with an approximate population of 3.5 million and forms part of the Kalahari. Two thirds of the terrain is made up of bush and glassland. Reisezeit / Travel Times: Die beste Reisezeit ist zwischen Juni und September, also in der Trockenzeit. The best time to travel is between June and September (dry season). Sicherheit / Safety Precautions: Dieses Gebiet ist Malaria Gebiet. Malaria- Prophylaxe dringenst empfohlen !!! Solo fahrten ausser-halb der Zivilisation sollten unbedingt vermieden werden. Auch Überlandfahrten sollten nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit nicht mehr unternommen werden. Unbedingt zu beachten sind auch die allgemeinen Sicherheitsaspekte.
